Kanso
Offline-first notes app · 2025 · Solo developer
A calm, keyboard-first notes app that works on a plane, syncs when it lands and never shows a spinner.
Challenge
Sync conflicts are where note apps lose trust. Two devices edit the same paragraph offline — what survives, and does the user ever have to think about it?
Approach
Built on a CRDT document model with a Rust core compiled to WebAssembly. Every keystroke is saved locally first; the network is treated as an optimisation, not a requirement.
Outcome
Zero data-loss reports across 12k users. Saving is instant because it never waits for a server.
Results
- 12k active users
- 0 data-loss reports
- 4.9 average rating
